I tried to lift it
But how could I lift
What was heavier than me?
What was crushing me?
I insisted though
My back was bent low
The weight grew heavier
Still I struggled on
My strength seeped away
Still I insisted
Until one day
When I could bear no more
I collapsed on the ground
Strained, sobbing, suppressed
When a lamb tries to lift a boulder
This happens
You didn’t ask me
To lift my burdens
Because I cannot
Even if all I want to do is
Lift and throw them away
But when I roll them to YOU
My Good Shepherd
I can watch them melt
Under your fiery gaze
I can watch them crumble
In your powerful fists
Then I can rest
In those same arms I can rest
Drawing strength
Drawing life
Experiencing Shalom
Experiencing YOU.
